Leaders in most dangerous cities in U.S defy Trump, harbors criminals, promotes violence

The mayor of one of the most dangerous cities in the United States announced during a press conference Monday that his city would continue to harbor illegal immigrants.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, along with other Chicago officials, said Chicago will always be a sanctuary city.

During a press conference, Emanuel said, “To be clear about what Chicago is, it always will be a sanctuary city. To all those who after Tuesdays election are very nervous and filled with anxiety; you are safe in Chicago. You are secure in Chicago and you are supported in Chicago.

Not surprising, Emanuel was the former chief of staff to President Obama.

This press conference comes after President-elect Donald Trump told Lesley R. Stahl during a 60 Minutes interview, that he had every intention deporting of incarcerating criminal illegal immigrants.

Trump is referring to illegal immigrants, who have not only broken the law by being inside the U.S. illegally, but also those who are dangerous criminals and pose a hazard to the community.

The GOP said that this is one reason why millions of Americans, including Hispanics and African Americans, voted for Trump.

While the millennial generation continues to riot against those who voted for Trump, Americans say they are fed up and want change.

Police say college students have the right to a peaceful protest, but they do not have the right to block traffic, burn flags, and destroy property that does not belong to them.

Many citizens in Chicago have turned to Facebook and Twitter, calling for the resignation of Emanuel. Additionally, citizens want to see federal funding used for illegal immigrants reduced or “pulled” all together.

Citizens said they know how unsafe it is to walk down the street in Chicago, but are concerned that Emanuel seems to continually promote crime.

According to law enforcement, from November 11 to November 13, 37 people were shot in Chicago. Many of the shootings were by the hand of illegal immigrants.

Since the Chicago mayor spoke, the mayor of NYC, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Los Angeles have also said that they would not jail illegal immigrants “just because they are in this country illegally.”

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, told the Philadelphia Inquirer, “I vow to uphold the Constitution of the United States by not holding people in jail without a warrant, which I think is in violation of the U.S. Constitution.”

Mayor of San Francisco, Ed Lee, also vowed to remain a sanctuary city. San Francisco is the same city in which an illegal immigrant was released from jail and then went on to kill Kate Steinle, 32. Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez shot and killed Steinle while she was walking along a pier. Sanchez was supposed to have been held on a federal retainer, but San Francisco officials set him free instead.

The U.S Justice department said these cities could be violating Federal Law by withholding information about the legal status of a particular person.

The government can withhold federal funding from these cities if they continue to break the law.

Watchdog groups say Chicago is one of the most corrupt cities in the U.S.

Emanuel said he will continue to defy Trump in regards to his immigration policy.
